Cilento territory offers to visitors a magic atmosphere, where they will lose all concept of time, a unique experience for nature and culture lovers. The name Cilento comes from cis Alentum, 'which means on this side of the river Alento'. Today this river no longer marks the boundary of the area. The Cilento coast is really beautiful, with its rocks, creeks and beaches. The coastline goes from Agropoli to Pioppi, to Castellabate, Ascea, Pisciotta, Centola, Palinuro, Marina di Camerota and Sapri. Aleppo pines are overlooking the blue sea which rests silently in the caves, surrounded by the rocks and the golden beaches. Cilento is a precious treasure with a wonderful nature made of woods, caves and old paths and is part of the protected area of the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano, a wonderful park mingling ancient woods, sea, rivers, streams, lakes, ancient cultivations, small rural houses, and rich in archaeology and traditions. Nature is very important for this territory: many farm houses have been created to give tourists the possibility to taste how people live in this enchanting and unspoiled area. In this way tourists can visit the wonderful churches, the monuments, the castles and live the silent and rich nature of these places, in strict contact with the ancient rural traditions. Agriculture is the main activity: olive oil is very famous and tasteful, the DOC wines, figs, salami and dairy products are really delicious. These products can be purchased and tasted also in the many farm houses of the area, where visitors can look at the productions and buy the local handicraft products.
